Each Drummygar vintage captures its year’s growing season, casks, and conditions, released only when ready, reflecting our belief in whisky shaped by time and place.
OUR STORY
At Drummygar Distillery, tradition and innovation walk side by side. Nestled on a working farm, we cultivate our own barley, including the rare 200 year old Chevalier heritage variety, farmed in the traditional way with the help of our Clydesdale horses, guided by our draft horse farmer Benny. By adding a portion of this heritage grain into every mash, we create a signature character that is uniquely Drummygar and impossible to replicate anywhere else.
Our spirit reflects both our land and our vision. We produce a mix of non peated and heavily peated spirit, which allows us to craft whiskies that range from delicate & fruity to rich & smoky. By carefully vatting these styles, we can shape a spectrum of flavour while staying true to our roots.
Maturation is at the heart of our philosophy. Most of our whisky rests in first fill bourbon casks, supported by a diverse selection of sherry, wine, rum, and fortified spirit casks. Our approach to finishing ensures balance: we guide each whisky’s journey, moving it between casks as it matures so that wood enhances and never overwhelms the distillery’s own character.
We believe whisky should speak of its time and place. That is why Drummygar bottlings will be released as vintages, each reflecting the growing season, casks, and conditions of that year. Our aim is patience over haste, and our first release will come when the whisky is truly ready.
